Couple charters over the weekend, one with my neighbor and another with my lovely wife. I could begin to tell the story of the one that got away but that would be a REAL fishing story and I may start crying again too. The monster wound up spooling my reel and the whole time my neighbor put the hex on by yelling for the camera prior to landing the fish. Ok enough I am beginning to sob, however landed this good size largemouth instead, not a world record but did stop the tears for a little while.
There was a cold front that moved in and think affected the fisheys appetite as my wife and I came up empty on her charter.

AAAAHHHH, the capt. took a solo mission and bags a 5 pointer.

Well the thunderstorms prevented a trip last night and the capt. just couldn't manage to get up for this morning, good thing no one had a charter booked. Hoping to get out there this evening.

This guy thinks fishing is easy, 2 trips 2 fish both 5 pointers. Not bad for his 1st largemouth and if that isn't a shiteatin grin...! Weather was gorgeous. Surface temp at 66 @ the captain's new favorite spot between the Pennisula golf course and Ramsey Creek park.

The weather is really starting to warm up the water. The surface temp. is in the low 60's. My lovely wife and fine bro-in law hopped on board for an early evening run. We fished the Midtown cove but boat traffic was killing the action. We made a decision to go up a cove and fish the banks of the Pennisula. My wife landed the biggest crappie we've ever seen, unfortunately we forgot the camera this trip. The captain also bagged a nice size largemouth with his new rod (THANKS TODD!!!) right before leaving for the boat launch.

The weather looks good this week. Business is booming as there are many folks looking to get on this weeks charters.
The end of last week's fishing was tough. A storm blew threw and the lake level was way above normal. There was a charter booked by a young lad who fished most of his life in a 15 acre farm pond, a canned hunt. On this trip he wondered why the hell he was out there, outside of the fact that we were fishing and not catching, the little 13' footer took a beaten in 15-18 mph winds. It was so bad we left another charter on the docks. The next morning, the same folks booked us again and only the captain managed to foul hook a small largemouth.

Well yesterday's excitement & this morning's overcast drizzle got the captain out on a solo mission looking to hone his chartering skillz and of course to land a monster striper. Trip turned out to be a recon mission yeilding nothing but intelligence on the fact that I should have stayed in bed. I think there may be a charter this evening providing the weather remains the same or gets better.

Well the boat is complete so now I have nothing to do but fish. In fact, CLOSENUFF charters will be leaving daily at 6am & 5pm.

It's one thing to say you are going Striper fishing and it's another to catch them. I managed to coerce my neighbor to kick off his bachelor party by going striper fishing at the crack of dawn, damn well knowing that we'd be lucky enough to catch a cold. The bachelor landed a short Striper while trolling a good 'ole hopkins and he has booked a weekly charter until he moves. The captain also landed a short jigging a hopkins as well. Considering it was CLOSENUFF's maiden charter, it was determined that those were the two most expensive Stripers ever caught.

The next two charters were booked by my brother in-law, who incidentally outfished the captain both trips tallying 14 points by landing a small largemouth (5 points), a nice white perch (3 points) and on his last trip bagged this beautiful largemouth close enough to 5lbs. earning him another 6 points!

Thanks Todd for a worthy picture to start the fishingstories blog. Hey Todd remember your captain next time at Basspro!!
